Your ram is possibly the problem, especially if u have various other programs running at the same time..
The thing is, when you have insufficient ram your computer relies on your hard drive for 'virtual ram' as in pretend memory which it uses the hard drive to store details of 'ram' information when your using quite a lot of ram, I have noticed in various systems I have built (and addictivly installed cod4 on for testing purposes!!) I think if you can manage to upgrade your ram to 2 gig, that you will find your PC runs quite a bit smoother while switching between cod and windows.. or between switching between aplications when you have a few open..
It's rare that I reboot my pc.. having said that my pc is fairly powerful and can cope with having hundreds of windows open without the slowdown I think your on about..
like killmod said look in the task manager at the amount of ram used is and see what you think is slowing your computer down.
Ah i see the problme i think my grahics card is useing my memory to and my card is only 512 but my memory is making it 1gig is that the reason ? and can i stop it from useing my memory ?
try to use gamebooster (i using it on my old laptop) Link that program shutting down backround processe,if ur pc use idk 60% of ram, turn on this program adn when it shutt down backround processes adn the other thing ur will use about 48% (depends of what windows u have)
And sry 4 my bad english coz it not my 1st language Hope this will help you
lol i had the same problem as you shank. tough i had the problem in wow. it was also couz i was running on 1 gig ram. the problem is if your running on vista that most of your ram will be used only for your operating system. i wacked in 8 gig ddr2 ram and the problem was gone, its a bit to mutch i know but now i can run everything on highest settings. so yea i advice getting at least 2 gig ram or upgrade it to 4 gig. doesn't cost that mutch nowedays since ddr2 ram is pretty cheap
