It doesnt look like 300 at all, thats a comic adaptation - this is written for the big screen - if it looks even half as good as 300 i'll be pleased, I think im excited about this because the original was such a massive movie if you enjoyed fantasy in the early 80's. Still a classic imo. Was 20 years till something better came out
good cast too, Mads Mikklesson is awesome, danny huston, pete postelthwaite, jason Flemyng, they have gone for really good actors instead of AAA hollywood names - thats always a good sign
I watched original few times and it was epic when it came out, and still able to hold its own even after clay animation was out of fasion. It did that with a good story.
300 was all about great visuals with none of the story. Those trailers look just like 300. Hollywood is great at destroying good movies with fluff remakes .
300 is based the battle of Thermopylae, recorded by the historian Herdotus and a few others accounts. The chars are real people and the encounter is still taught in military schools.

BIGBONG nooo, comic book and the movie "story" revolves around one man army and his few sidekicks kicking some serious ass in slow motion to be honest there were trace elements of betrayal that lasted maybe whole 10 minutes.
and oh yes Woo-ping Yuen does great things with moving human bodies, lets hope we will get another epic Michelle Yeoh sword fight scene.
the battle was awesome thats why its still remembered. basically the spartans had 300 and there were 800 of these dudes from another city and they held off an army numbering around 250,000 for 3 days! thats why they still teach it, its the first recored battle where a small unit held up a much larger one using superior tactics, training, weapons and most importantly the environment. They reckon after the first day the arabs had lost thousands and the spartans were down 1 man and these are the conservative reports. I thought it was pretty cool shit.
